Using documentary film as a tool to create positive social change

Documentary films hold the power to create change. Through a strategic impact campaign, centring focus on key objectives, we can bring community together to educate, create partnerships, and also to take action. Using Canadian Adobo as a tool for change, we aim to bring it to communities across Canada. In hosting these screenings, we also centre around a panel discussion with members of the film team, sometimes experts in the area (therapists, lawyers, etc.), and those with lived experience. Through these sessions, we aim to educate people and connect over shared experiences. This has a ripple effect into various communities with the goal of bringing social change through education.

  • Educate

Focus specifically on bringing together younger audiences in Filipino Canadian communities and supporting them in dialogue.

  • Communicate

With the support of a telecommunication sponsorship, supply refurbished phones to families in Philippines.

  • Awareness

Bring awareness of the intergenerational impacts of domestic workers’ migration to the general population.

  • UPLIFT

Encourage Filipino workers and their families to honour their labour and sacrifice within their own communities.
